All of us connected with this website are volunteers, working to further the knowledge of our Emptage ancestors from the UK, Barbados and elsewhere in the wider world.
Whilst we have a team of people closely involved with the research, we are also reliant on the people who contact us with information about their Emptage ancestors.
We use this website to publicise information about the Emptage ancestors but make every effort to respect the general genealogy privacy policy that we do not do so for anybody born within the last 100 years unless they are deceased or have clearly given us their permission. See below for contact details if you wish to draw something to our attention.
Information we collect
All contact via the website is by email, either to one of the team listed on the website or by using the web contact form, and therefore requires that you give your name and email address. We will reply to you using that email address and may pass your name, email address and any pertinent information you provide to another member of Team Emptage who may also contact you to provide you with more information or to discuss the subject which you raise.
Genealogical data is held on private offline databases compiled by Team Emptage members and on private family trees on Ancestry.com, LLC.
We also collect data about visitors (browser type, language preference, referring site, date and time of visit and the like). Aggregate data are collected by services hosted by Automattic, Inc. (publishers of WordPress and JetPack) and individual visits are logged identified only by IP address which does not identify you personally.
Emails are stored by various companies including Google, LLC. Any comments posted to the website are collected and stored by Disqus, Inc., even if they are deleted or not published by us.
We do not use third party tracking cookies and do not host any advertising.
How we store and use information
We are not affiliated to any other group and your personal information, ie name, email address, and any other contact details, remains within the Emptage of Thanet research team. We will not pass on your contact details to any other member of the Emptage family to whom we believe you are closely connected without your consent.
We do not and will not give, sell or rent your name, email address, or any other details which we become aware of through our communication with you, to any other group, organisation, company or other third party unless required to by law. Some information we collect is stored and processed outside of the EU by non-EU service providers and also by members of Team Emptage not based within the EU.
Emails and contact form submissions are generally kept indefinitely unless you request otherwise. We don’t keep access logs for more than a few months, but service providers we rely upon have their own retention policies.
Subscriptions to email notification of new articles on the website are processed by Automattic, Inc. If you wish to unsubscribe, you must follow the procedure outlined by Automattic, Inc. As at May 2018, this requires you to click on the Unsubscribe button at the bottom of the email.
